Sophomore KeeVon Copeland, a health sciences major from Omaha, Nebraska, transformed his budding hobby in photography into a visual storytelling business with his company Clicked by Von, a lifestyle and portrait photography brand that focuses on capturing authentic moments for students, organizations, and professionals. Copeland started Clicked by Von in 2024 because he wanted to provide high-quality visual assets to fellow students and the broader Howard community.

“I started Clicked by Von because I realized how powerful visual storytelling can be, especially for students and young creatives who want to build confidence, document milestones, or elevate their personal brand,” said Copeland. “Photography gave me a way to serve my community, highlight Black joy, and make high-quality images accessible on campus. What started as a hobby quickly became a passion and a business when I saw how much people valued the experience and the final product.”

Clicked by Von’s photography services include headshots, graduation portraits, lifestyle photo shoots, birthday content, event photography, and creative branding images. Copeland’s work, he said, “emphasizes clean editing, warm tones, and storytelling through intentional composition.”

As a health sciences major pursuing a pre-physical therapy and pre-med pathway, Copeland’s long-term goal is to integrate health care, media, and community advocacy. He also intends to explore health communications, public health policy, and digital storytelling to support underserved populations.

“I want to merge creativity with service by building a career that uplifts communities through both health care and visual media,” Copeland explained. “Clicked by Von is more than just photography — it’s community-centered storytelling. My goal is to create a comfortable experience that allows clients to feel seen, confident, and celebrated.”

As a Howard student, Copeland shared that the university has helped to shape his business  by connecting him with other ambitious, innovative, and driven peers who encourage him to grow and develop.

“Being involved in student leadership, PR work, and service organizations has helped me master branding, communication, and project management,” Copeland said. “Howard taught me how to pitch my work, navigate opportunities, and stay adaptable, all of which are skills that are essential for building a sustainable business. My Howard network has been one of the strongest forces behind the growth of Clicked by Von. Many students, leaders, and organizations have supported my work in meaningful ways, from booking me consistently to recommending me to new clients.”

As Copeland continues to grow his photography business, he hopes to expand into on-campus studio setups, branded mini-sessions, and multimedia projects that showcase student experiences at Howard.
